Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions constitute the service agreement between Deck The Halls by Darrell (hereafter referred to as "the Designer," "we," or "our") and the undersigned client (hereafter referred to as "the Client" or "you").

By signing our Service Agreement or submitting a deposit, you agree to the following terms:

1. Scope of Services

Deck The Halls by Darrell agrees to provide professional holiday decorating services as outlined in your custom project proposal. This luxury service includes:

Design & Curation: The artistic layout, theme planning, and selection of decor.

  • Procurement: Sourcing and purchasing of decorative items on the Client's behalf.
  • Installation: Hand-delivered, professional setup of holiday trees, garlands, lights, and custom accents.
  • The Strike (Removal): Post-holiday dismantling, neat packing into labeled bins, and cleanup of the immediate working area.

2. Financial Terms & Payment Structure

Because our services are highly customized and time-sensitive, we operate on a strict, split-funding model to guarantee both design priority and material availability.

  • 50% Labor Deposit: Due upon signing to secure your exclusive installation and strike dates on our calendar. This deposit is non-refundable as it reserves peak seasonal calendar space.

100% Procurement Fund: Must be paid in full before any materials, ornaments, lights, or greenery are purchased. The Transparency Promise: We pass raw material costs directly to you. We never mark up the retail price of ornaments, ribbons, or trees. Original receipts will be presented to you, and any unused procurement funds will be credited toward your final labor balance.

  • 50% Final Labor Balance: Due immediately upon the final "Lights On" walkthrough at the end of your installation.

3. Access, Logistics, and "Arrival Magic"

For our signature pre-arrival residential setups, seamless coordination is essential:

  • Property Access: The Client must arrange and authorize property access (via key, lockbox, realtor, or property manager) at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled installation window.
  • Utilities: The Client is responsible for ensuring active electrical power and heating/air conditioning are fully functional inside the property during the installation window.
  • Staging Area: The Client must designate a safe, dry area (e.g., a garage or spare room) where shipping boxes, packing materials, and tools can be temporarily staged.

4. Client Responsibilities & Existing Decor

  • Working Space: The installation area must be cleared of personal clutter, breakables, and furniture prior to our arrival. The Designer is not responsible for moving heavy furniture.
  • Existing Decor Quality: If we are utilizing your existing, family-owned ornaments or lights, they must be in clean, working condition. Deck The Halls by Darrell reserves the right to replace non-functional light strands or broken ornaments at the Client’s expense (using the Procurement Fund) to maintain our safety and aesthetic standards.

5. Teardown & Storage (The "Strike")

Our white-glove service includes a meticulous post-season cleanup.

  • Scheduling: Strike dates are strictly scheduled between January 2nd and January 10th. Exact dates will be locked in at the time of your booking.
  • Storage Bins: The Client must provide high-quality storage bins, or authorize the Designer to procure them using the Procurement Fund.
  • Off-site Storage: Deck The Halls by Darrell does not provide off-site storage facilities. All packed bins will be left neatly stacked in the Client’s designated on-site storage area (attic, basement, garage, or closet).

6. Liability, Insurance, and Property Care

We treat your property with the utmost respect, applying the highest professional standards of care.

  • General Liability: The Designer is fully insured with active General Liability Insurance.
  • Electrical Safety: The Designer is not responsible for power outages, blown fuses, or tripped breakers caused by overloaded residential circuits or pre-existing, faulty home electrical wiring. We highly recommend utilizing dedicated outlets for large tree displays.
  • Natural Greenery: If the Client requests a live, fresh-cut tree, the Client assumes all responsibility for daily watering and maintenance after installation. The Designer is not liable for needle drop or dryness resulting from lack of watering.

7. Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy

The holiday decorating window is exceptionally short. A cancellation hurts our ability to book another high-end client.

  • Rescheduling: If you must reschedule your installation, we require at least 7 business days' notice. We will do our best to accommodate your new date, subject to calendar availability.
  • Cancellation: If the project is canceled by the Client within 14 days of the scheduled installation, the 50% Labor Deposit is forfeited. Any custom-procured materials already purchased with the Procurement Fund remain the physical property of the Client and will be delivered as-is.
